From the Kochi Muziris Biennale to Goa’s Serendipity Arts Festival, as well as a sweep of gallery showcases across the country, December is the perfect time to dive into India’s buzzing art scene.

Visakh Menon’s densely worked compositions of acrylic and ink are like white noise in an age of overstimulation. Deceptively simple, they reimagine the traditions of colour field painting and geometric abstraction for the era of AI. From a distance, the works appear to be a digital glitch or drifting screen static, but up close, each surface reveals the raw tactility of the artist’s hand: thousands of patient, linear marks that break through the algorithmic veneer. In this tension between optical overload and intimate craftsmanship, Menon subverts the familiar sense of digital overwhelm, creating works that invite the viewer to slow down and spend time with each work.
